Practical exercise 1: WORK WITH A COMPUTER PROGRAM OR A

SMARTPHONE PLANETARUM-TYPE APPLICATION

Depending on the possibilities, it is good for the teacher to show students the easiest possibilities of a free planetarium program such as Stellarium. With its help, finding the constellations described in the lesson can be demonstrated.

Students can then install a free application on their mobile devices (phones or tablets), such as SkyMap, SkySafary, etc. The students can then be asked to find for example the constellations neighboring Ursa Minor. With this program, students can also get acquainted with the names of the brightest stars of the individual constellations.

Pupils can be divided into groups and explore the constellations of the winter, spring, summer and autumn skies.
